Todays IDEAS tomorrow's big companies

Why Google is been selected as best brand? what made them so successful? Microsoft was most valued brand before, now it is Google tomorrow someone else. (Ranking source- The BRANDZ) But what is common in any successful company?

Is it team work or hard work?
Is it power to take initiative or Vision? (Could not be as Yahoo search was here before Google)
Is it money which can buy the competitor?
Is it by advertising & marketing? (I never seen any TV ad’s from Google in 90’s)

Yes almost everything mentioned above will contribute. IDEA of making Operating system paid off to Microsoft as Search engine to Google.

Some one who can convert an IDEA to business becomes a successful business man. But everyone in this world is not a business man. It is very sad to see some of our successful corporate lacks IDEAS and do not entertain IDEAS from external sources. They started believing that they are bigger and reached in a stage where  need of any IDEAS from out side world irrelevent.

Some of them fear that once IDEA is taken from someone they have pay them back one day. In our day to day life we can see many people around us who share their IDEAS without expecting anything. Even that kind of IDEAS too have no place in many companies. The day any corporate start thinking that they have sufficient IDEAS they began their journey to forgotten history.

A search on Google for “"Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy” will tell you the truth. Guess who is first in the list..

I am not a saint, but I am not greedy. If some one gave 1 billion $ and ask me to do some thing which my conscience does not permit I will not do. Last 32 years money could not change me even in the difficult times or in present situations

How poor people can be .... perspective of view

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the Father asked his son, "How was the trip?" "It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked. "Oh Yeah" said the son. "So what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered,
"I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
With this the boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are." Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on what we don't have.
What is one person's worthless object is another's prize possession.
It is all based on one's perspective.
Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for all the bounty we have, instead of worrying about wanting more.
Take joy in all you have, especially your friends.

Life is not measured by the breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away.

Perseverance

Perseverance

An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money left. They were moving to a smaller house because they could not afford to stay in the present house after paying the doctor's bills. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and there was no one to loan them the money.

When she heard her daddy say to her tearful mother with whispered desperation, 'Only a miracle can save him now', the little girl went to her bedroom and pulled her piggy bank from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully.

Clutching the precious piggy bank tightly, she slipped out the back door and made her way six blocks to the local drugstore. She took a quarter from her bank and placed it on the glass counter.

"And what do you want?" asked the pharmacist.

"It's for my little brother", the girl answered back. "He's really very sick and I want to buy a miracle."

"I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist.

"His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle cost?"

"We don't sell miracles here, child. I'm sorry," the pharmacist said, smiling sadly at the little girl.

"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I can try and get some more. Just tell me how much it costs."

In the shop was a well-dressed customer. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does you brother need?"

"I don't know," she replied with her eyes welling up. "He's really sick and mommy says he needs an operation. But my daddy can't pay for it, so I have brought my savings."

"How much do you have?" asked the man.

"One dollar and eleven cents; but I can try and get some more", she answered barely audibly.

"Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man, "A dollar and eleven cents - the exact price of a miracle for little brothers."

He took her money in one hand and held her hand with the other. He said, "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the kind of miracle you need"

That well-dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn't long before Andrew was home again and doing well.

"That surgery", her mom whispered, "was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost."

The little girl smiled. She knew exactly how much the miracle cost ... one dollar and eleven cents ... plus the faith of a little child.
so Perseverance can make miracles happen!

Just 4 words!

Just 4 words!
An eight-year-old boy approached an old man in front of a wishing
well, looked up into his eyes, and asked:
"I understand you're a very wise man. I'd like to know the secret of
life."

The old man looked down at the youngster and replied:
"I've thought a lot in my lifetime, and the secret can be summed up in
four words

The first is to “think”. Think about the values you wish to live your life
by.

The second is to “believe”. Believe in yourself based on the thinking
you've done about the values you're going to live your life by.

The third is to “dream”. Dream about the things that can be, based
on your belief in yourself and the values you're going to live by.

The last is to “dare”. Dare to make your dreams become reality,
based on your belief in yourself and your values. "

And with that, Walter E. Disney said to the little boy, “Think, Believe,
Dream, and Dare”.

The wolves within

 The wolves within
An old Grandfather, whose grandson came to him with anger at a
schoolmate who had done him an injustice, said, "Let me tell you a
story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken
so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down,
and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing
your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many
times."

He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good
and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does
not take offence when no offence was intended. He will only fight
when it is right to do so, and in the right way."

"But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him
into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He
cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is hard to live
with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominant my
spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eye and asked, "Which
one wins, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather solemnly said, "The one I feed."

SAP Teched bangalore

Last couple of weeks I was away for SAP Teched at Bangalore. TechEd ’06 has seen record levels at all locations – with Las Vegas seeing an increased of 15% and Amsterdam an increase of 25% over the previous year - the Bangalore chapter emerged the most popular considering the whopping 40% increase in registrations over 2005

It was a nice experience which I may not forget for a while as it was my first experience as demo staff representing SAP. Even though I am from a Defense background I was really impressed with the event managed by the team at SAP bangalore. I could also able to witness some of the consistent and rock solid product from SAP. Leave me a comment or mail if you would like to see some of the snaps.

This event and the way which it presented is a good example for SAP’s integrity, sincerity and commitment towards its customers , partners and community.
